Brown graduated from Emerson Collegein Boston with a degree in theatrical makeup.[2][3][7][12] In 1980, she moved to New York City to work as a professional makeup artist.[2][7] Brown became known for a makeup style that included moderate and natural tones, which was a stark contrast to the bright colors used at the time.[2][13][14] In 1991, she and a chemist released a line of new lipsticks under the brand Bobbi Brown Essentials, which debuted at Bergdorf Goodman in New York City.[12] The success of her makeup line led Estée Lauder to buy the company in 1995.[2][3][15] Her work has since been featured on the covers of magazines such as Elle, Vogue, Self and Town & Country.[3][16][17] Brown was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2013.[4] Brown served as Yahoo Beauty's Editor-in-Chief from February 2014 to February 2016. Bath & Body Works, LLC is
an American retailer under the L Brands (formerly
Limited Brands) umbrella, along with Victoria's
Secret.
It was founded in 1990 in New
Albany, Ohio and
has since expanded across the United
States, Canada, Chile and Peru[1][2]In
1997, it was the largest bath shop chain in the United States.[3] It
specializes in shower gels, lotions, fragrance mists, perfumes, candles, and
home fragrances. Bath & Body Works was founded in 1990 in New Albany, Ohio. The company's first store opened in a Cambridge, Massachusetts mall in September 1990.[4] In 1997, a secondary brand called Bath & Body Works at Home was launched.[3] The division has since been renamed White Barn Candle Company. Bath & Body Works launched both a seasonal catalog and a website in 2006. In November 2006, the company launched its first television commercial advertisement.[5] Net sales as of January 28, 2006 were $2.3 billion, significantly higher than all other L Brands companies other than Victoria's Secret. In July 2008, the company announced that it was opening six locations in Canada. With the company acquiring Canadian-based La Senza, they felt it was the opportunity to move into a growing Canadian market, with The Body Shop being its main competition. Bath & Body Works operates more than 1,600 stores.[8] In October 2010, it opened its first stores outside of North America in Kuwait, by the franchise giant M.H. Alshaya. |
